Ashland Kentucky Pride Meeting Minutes

Sunday, March 2, 2025

Call to Order

A public meeting of Ashland Kentucky Pride was held on March 2, 2025 at the Ashland branch of the Boyd Co Public Library. It began at 1:30pm and was presided over by Holly Blevins with Jenee Kesling as secretary.

Approval of minutes

Holly made a motion to accept the meeting minutes for the month of February. Sean seconded. Motion approved.

Treasurer's Report

Holly made a motion to receive the treasurer’s report for the month of February. Sean seconded. Motion approved. 

Paypal: $4,336.02 

People’s: $1,805.97 (+306.98 in old account)

Committee Reports

Fundraising/Sponsorship requests

• Taylor has sent out one grant proposal, other one just needs board approval

• Taylor is going to start on picnic sponsorships as soon as grant proposals are completed

Y’all Means All 

• We need to schedule another committee meeting - tuesday 11th, 6pm, Des’s house

• Working on rebranding

Safe Zone Training 

• Made some changes 

  • updating the genderbread portion

  • More on intersectionality

• Every other month in person meeting and every other month zoom meetings

• Start reaching out to yall means all businesses to see if they would like to sign up for monthly meeting or schedule personal meeting

• March 29th is next training (Zoom)

Community Survey

• Needs a reshare for this month

Found Family

• March 16, 1:30-4, Ashland branch

  • Charcuterie potluck 

• April - yall means all business 

• May - cook out at the park

• June - flower picking

Pride Picnic

• Holly turned in first round of paper work, waiting to hear back about the second round

• Sound

  • 1 out of louisville - $500

  • 1 local, $100, may not have enough equipment

  • Possible other connection, may not have enough equipment

• Need to contact vendors from last year - Jenee needs to get with Heather

• QR code yard signs - Bronte will repaint Seans old signs. Trying to get with the library about using the cricket for QR codes. Holly will send Bronte a layout map to determine how many signs we need. 

• Next steps:

  • Follow up with City

  • Jenee will contact vendors from last year

  • Make post looking for talent and volunteers

Unfinished Business

Girl Scout Event 

• June 14th

• Library booked, Sean should be able to get the church

• GSA would like to start a queer specific group

Pride month opinion piece in the newspaper

• Sean, Hollyn, Des, Bianca

• 300 words or less, needs to be written and posted for review on discord asap to be ready for June. Submitted by May. Hopefully have them ready by May 4th meeting.

New Business

Resource gathering project by Hollyn-Reid

• With all the queer/trans information being deleted and edited by the government, Hollyn is collecting as much information as possible.  He would like to know what info we find most important to protect and keep a copy of in case we lose the queer internet.

• Resources for trans health care, hate crime statistics, doctors and politicians that are supportive, queer sexual health, history, protection laws
