Ashland Kentucky Pride Meeting Minutes
Sunday, August 2, 2026
Call to Order
A public meeting of Ashland Kentucky Pride was held on August 2, 2026 at the Ashland branch of the Boyd County Public Library. It began at 1:31 pm and was presided over by Holly Blevins with Jenee Kesling as secretary.

Approval of minutes
Holly made a motion to accept the meeting minutes for the month of June. Taz seconded. Motion approved.
Treasurer's Report
Holly made a motion to receive the treasurer’s report for the months of June and July. Jenee seconded. Motion approved.
Tattoo money still needs to be deposited
Need to pay James for storage ($250)
Special Items
Vote on edits to Bylaws
Art II – strike 2 commas for grammatical purposes
Art IV Sec 1 – strike B, change C to B and D to C to reflect change in organizational focus
Art V Sec 1 – strike reference to 4 board members that was left by accident after drafting discussions and correct "Vide" to "Vice"
Sec 3 – add "entirely" to clarify
Art VI Sec 3 – Strike item D requiring additional event attendance and renumber items E and F

Discuss/vote
Attendance requirements for general membership
Art IV Sec 1 B. Shall be required to attend three (3) public meetings and/or events per quarter, at minimum twelve (12) meetings and/or events per year
Attendance requirements for board members
Art VI Sec 3 D. Attend the (3) non-meeting events per quarter. If fewer than three (3) events are attended per quarter, disciplinary action will be taken according to the Policies & Procedures
Do we need to make any changes to the Events Committee due to changes in organizational focus?
Art VIII Sec 2 Events Committee shall:
A. Organize and plan a variety of social events for the AKP community;
B. Work with the Media Committee to advertise events; and
C. Keep a record of attendees at events and submit them to the Secretary no later than ten (10) days prior to the monthly meeting
Frequency of Safe Zone trainings
Art VIII Sec 4 A. Plan Safe Zone Training events at minimum once per month and three months in advance

Committees

Holly would like to step down from Safe Zone and move into YMA if someone will take the lead on Safe Zone
Try to locate stickers and pledges

Heather would like to organize a book drive to provide books on diversity to local schools that may need it
Make a list based on need to know which age groups
Create a wishlist and have people donate books
Heather will put together some info and present again next meeting
Holly would like to attempt running a trans closet event where people can come swap/donate/receive clothes
Holly can borrow dressing rooms from work but we would need mirrors
We can buy mirrors and reuse for performers tents
Collectively we have tons of bags of clothes
Possibly combine events and collect book donations also
Swap books for clothes
Aim for a Fall/Winter and then again in 6mo for Spring/Summer
Try for the library in Sept/Oct, maybe using late hours, maybe last week in Sept on a Sunday. After hours for privacy
Sunday Oct 11 is National Coming Out Day, so we will try for that day
Tattoos for Pride - $1,075
Event went well, not as many people as usual
New flash, but missed the mark on some of their designs
