Ashland Kentucky Pride Meeting Minutes

Sunday February 4, 2024

Attending: Holly (she/her), Desire’ (she/her), Lu (she/her), Sean (he/him), Mindy (she/her),  Elliot (he/they)

Absent:     Kasheena (she/her), Lossy (she/they), Sophie (they/them ,she/her)

The meeting was called to order by Holly (president) at 2:00pm.

Holly made a motion to accept the meeting minutes for the January meeting. Sean seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Des made a motion to look over the bylaws before next month's meeting about last month's changes. 

Treasurer’s Report: Current Balances: Paypal: $1,724.58 • People’s: $2,098.18 (Due to the situation with the bank account, this amount is not accurate)

  • Holly updated the group about last month's changes to the bylaws—final copy to be posted for the public soon

• Holigay 2023 

  • This was covered in the January leadership meeting and nothing new was mentioned

• Masquerade Ball 2023 

  • This was covered in the January leadership meeting and nothing new was mentioned

• Y’all Means All 2024

  • Figure out how to vet businesses signing up

  • Possibly of making businesses do Safe Zone before granting membership

• Safe Zone Training 2024

  • Monthly zoom safe zone trainings

New Business

• Voting on leadership positions

  • President - Holly running unopposed

  • Secretary - Jenee running unopposed

  • Media Manager - Nobody running, Elliot volunteered to step in until the position is filled

  • Sean made the motion to skip voting, motion passed

• Bank account and Zoom account update

  • The old bank account has been closed and a new account started

  • Money was refunded but it's conditional upon investigation

  • Des still has an active card

  • Once the bank account is up and running, move all PayPal money to the bank account and open a new PayPal business account

• Book Club update

  • Bronte set up a digital book club through Fable

• Pride Picnic

  • James, Holly, and Des will head the main committee and will delegate into sub-committees

  • Sub-committee heads will be discussed in the leadership group

  • Need to start locking in sponsorships 

  • Contact the parks department to lock in the date

• Mural

  • Need to start fundraising 

• Henlo Press Event

  • Who can volunteer?

    • Des, Taz, Holly, Jenee, Chris, Mindy

  • What should we offer? (Info, merch, activity, ect.) 

    • Make a bookmark

    • Pass out group info

    • Pass out stickers and pronoun buttons

• Voidcon

  • Make a zine about queerness in horror

• The Writer’s Block, Henlo Press Event: Sunday February 25th 12-5 pm at The Community Center in Barboursville, WV

• Community Mural Painting Project: April 20-21
