Ashland Kentucky Pride Meeting Minutes

Call to Order
A public meeting of Ashland Kentucky Pride was held on June the 1st, 2025 at Central Park. It began at 1:30pm and was presided over by Holly Blevins with Jenee Kesling as secretary.

Quorum: Yes General Members: 6
Approval of minutes
Holly made a motion to accept the meeting minutes for the month of May. Jenee seconded. Motion approved.
Treasurer's Report
Holly made a motion to receive the treasurer’s report for the month of May. Jenee seconded. Motion approved.
Paypal: $2080.80

Committee Reports (Pride Month Only)
Found Family: Flower Farm
11am, Park in lot, walk over bridge
If its too cool, we can’t pick flowers but we can still take pictures and do a picnic
Holly will be taking pictures for donations
Future events: Game night, pool party, movie night
Safe Zone: June Training
Invite people you know that want to be better allies
Holly and Elliot will run the training
Girl Scout Event
Holly and Jenee will get together and work on activities
Beach Day
People can bring picnic foods. Jenee will provide hamburgers and hotdogs
Tattoos for Pride
Set up table to sell merch

Go early to decorate
Bingo is free
Pride in the Garden
Lawn games, work on garden, capture the flag

We will go as a group to see the musical The Prom at Ritter Park either the 2nd or 3rd weekend of June

Making new people feel welcome at events and meetings

Information table at first fridays - raffle basket giveaway that requires them to leave their name and number
Digital outreach through email and text - Taylor, Taz and Hollynn
Being more active in advocacy and activism
Attending rallies as a group
Hosting rallies
Showing up to more city events/having a presences in the city
More advocacy posts on social media
Mutual Aid - Partner with EKY mutual aid
Harm reduction (Narcan, plan b, condoms, fentanyl test strips)
Leaders and Board members taking initiative
Follow through on ideas (individually or as a committee)
Doesn’t have to be a board member. Anyone can take lead on an initiative
Board members assisting general members with ideas
Preparing general members to step up into leadership roles
Building skill sets (trainings, classes)
Understanding what everyone's roles are
Knowing how to step in and fill in for someone if they can’t make it to an event
Having 1:1 with each other (board members) or with general members
Elliot can give 1:1 training again for new members
Moving with joy in your work
How to maintain your joy while doing activist work
Defining what you are passionate about (journaling can help)
Acknowledging how your work changes the world
Resting when you need to
Lifting each other up
Prioritize your joy
Holly made a motion to make a secondary bank account for the coalition (AKP, KPU, AFC). Elliot seconded. Motion approved.
