Ashland Kentucky Pride Meeting Minutes
Sunday, August 3, 2025
Call to Order
A public meeting of Ashland Kentucky Pride was held on August 3rd, 2025 at the Midland Branch of the Boyd Co Public Library. It began at 1:30pm and was presided over by Holly Blevins with Jenee Kesling as secretary.

Approval of minutes
Holly made a motion to accept the meeting minutes for the month of July. Sean seconded. Motion approved.
Treasurer's Report
Holly made a motion to receive the treasurer’s report for the month of July. Sean seconded. Motion approved.
Paypal: $2015.80
People’s: $6,400.44 (Cash: $41 to be deposited)

Committee Reports
Y’all Means All - Desire
July meeting rescheduled for August 12th, 6pm, Desire’s house or maybe something more official
Jenee will reserve a time at the library
Start meeting every other week
Holly will order new stickers this week
Safe Zone Training - Holly (but would like someone else to be lead)
Holly will schedule a meeting within the next 2 weeks
Let Holly know if anyone would like to be a safe zone trainer

Found Family - Bronte
Pride and Pints will be August FF event
FF will fall under event planning committee going forward. Bronte can still take lead but she will have support from the committee

Just started the email newsletter as a digital version
Can add The Vault as a place to distribute flyers
Could possible hang one up at Panera and Starbucks
Working on Sept. Deadline is Friday for columns and events
Youth Pride - Jenee
Looking for new co-coordinator
Jenee asked for a social media post to be made looking for new coordinator
Looking for board members to take some of the board to take over meetings

Just through discord, could be more if someone wants to take over
Fundraising/Sponsorship - Desire
Desire work with Taylor on taking on sponsorships
We tried First Friday, it went well.

Keep it intimate like the FF event last year, more community oriented
Possibly do a holiday time fundraiser to replace
AFA might do a holigay event as a fundraiser for pride, events to come
Keep Holly in the loop. Lots of rules and ordinance to work around
Have to follow the ordinances very carefully, people are waiting for us to mess up

Looking for more photos for collection. Hollyn can print, scan, copy whatever is available. Also you can post to discord. Include dates and events with photos
Community engagement
Boyd Co repair affair next month (sept 27th)
New Business
Halloween Ball by AFA (Taylor)
Oct 12th, at the mill
Costume contest. No drag performances but a queen may be judging the costumes
Report on First Friday (Taylor and Jen)
Made $111, not too much negativity, passed out some newsletters, got some email sign ups
Taylor and Holly will update inventory numbers
New expectations for meetings and committees
Meetings: first 30 min will be games/icebreakers/social time to meet new people
Board members are supposed to be making people feel welcome and learn one thing about them to share
Bring back snacks and drinks - Jen will be in charge of storing/bringing snacks. Could possibly order pizza
Prioritize new faces and make people feel welcome. Board members should be introducing themselves and connect with new people. Events and meetings.
Committees are required to meet once a month and the chairperson will give updates at public meetings
Taylor made a committee form to fill out and take notes for the next meeting
Ask Taylor or other board member if you need a copy of the form
Committee breakdown/recommendations and event calendar (Sean and Des)
All board members/committee chairs will be able to edit/add events
All Board Members have access currently
One tab for Event info and one for the calendar
Event info has all events and which month they are held, color coded
October is really busy
Working toward making a yearly schedule
Table at Poage’s Landing
Combine event planning committee with FF
Aiming to make a timeline of all events: when to pick venues, when to start social media, when to ask for volunteers….
Still needs work but we have a jumping off point. If you have feedback, leave notes on the spreadsheet, do not make edits to the framework of the document.
Other new items
Choose between tabling at Pikeville pride or Poages Landing.
Divide and conquer. Table at Poage’s Landing and send a group to attend/support Pikeville pride
Cost for vendor booth at Poages Landing is $155 for all 3 days
Holly made a motion to pay the fee to go to Poages Landing. Sean seconded. Motion passed.

After we are registered, someone will create a schedule and ask for volunteers to cover the booth over the 3 days
Look into tabling for huntington pride, Oct 25th
Take a group trip to mothman festival, Sept 20&21
